Headlight switch function

Hi
I have a 2011 Tiguan FWD and I was wondering how the headlight switch works.
Like how do I turn the switch to the light symbol down on the left of the picture, and what is that light ?,

Push and twist. It's the high intensity (fog) light.

Can only push in and turn right wont turn left !

You can't turn it left. you can only pull it out when the other lights are on.

turn it 2 clicks right so that your full lights are on, the bottom of the switch will align (ish) with the bottom left symbol which is for fog lights. You can now pull the switch out to light the rear fog light. the fog light will turn itself off when you turn the switch left again.
you only have 1 symbol so it will be for rear fog light, if you had 2 you could pull the switch out twice to get the front fog lights on also. like this one

Tks for that, I was thinking you turned the switch so it would be facing the bottom fog light symbol or when I turned it to the headlights and pulled it out the fog light symbol would turn green, so none of that is the case then.

you should get a fog light symbol on your dash - i see its a left hooker, but cant see it being different from UK? does the fog light work?

Yes the rear fogs work, I have just fit retro front fog lights, and trying to find out where I get the switched power from for feeding the relay !.

Think you will need a different switch as your switch (photo in your original post) will only pull out one click while the switch in swalkers post will pull out twice (has 2 light symbols on switch to represent front and rear fog lights).

Do you have a suitable switch such as 3C8 941 431 C XSH?

Tks for that, will that give me a 12v feed direct to the relay ?,

Thanks for that, ok then I will be able to take a feed direct from the new switch to my relay for the front fogs, I take it that the wiring for the new switch will all ready be in the old switch, if so which wire would be used to send signal to the BCM to activate the font fogs ?.

The wire from the switch to the BCM is probably there.
