So yesterday I changed the front bump stops - After getting the spring off with the help of spring compressors and the new stop on I noticed that while seeing if the spring was sitting correctly on the leg that it did not need to be compressed to get the top strut mount back on. I could literally get the nut on all the way.
Is this right? - from previous experience I've had to really compress the spring to disassemble and re assemble the spring.

On moving to the other side, I could remove the spring by just removing the top strut mount nut - no spring compressors needed.
If i'd have done that on my quattro the top strut mount would be in the middle of next week!!

The shocks are NK63473305 and the springs are original (so quite old!)

any comments?

I have only seen that with standard length dampers and silly lowering springs, MOT wise as long as the spring does not move around when the damper is fully extended, it is OK.
