A few months ago I successfully retrofitted a backup camera in my C6 4f - found all the parts on ebay, cost around £300 in total, not including the loom which I made myself.
Its been working perfectly up until a week or so ago -
When I select reverse I just get a blank screen where the video should be.....however, every now and again I get a broken interference picture on screen and then it disappears - I also get the guide lines which move with the steering -
There are no fault codes logged in VCDS and I can see that (according to VCDS) video signal is present - what I am trying to find out is which bit of kit overlays the tram lines onto the camera output - I thought originally that it was the camera controller (in the boot) but I have changed that and it still doesn't work - the next 'logical ' item would be the MMI controller where the video signal from the camera controller plugs into - this is a PITA to change as it contains component protection -
does anyone know if there is another controller that manages this?

What year is it? The 2009 facelift model has the module in the boot connected to the glovebox mmi unit, the older A6 is much more complicated.

My car is 2006 - however the camera setup was a retrofit - a mix of parts from A6 and Q7!
It has upto now worked perfect......TBH, not too bothered about it as I now have Mr12Volt P2000 which gives me Apple Play and also rear (and front!) parking camera inputs.
I can only presume that the problem is in the MMI head unit - one thing I did notice when I had a replacement installed ( because my original unit did not have FBAS input for a camera) is that if you alter the startup spalsh screen ( A6, S6 or RS6) it shows 'Engineering Sample' rather than the Audi model - and yes, I could get another unit but it would need the Component Protection removing.

I brought all this for my 2006 A6 but never fitted it due to CP, now i have Odis it doesn’t worry me as much, its far easier on the 2009 face lifted cars
