Hi all! Just in need of some advice really if you know what it could be or if anyone's had this issue, how did you fix it?!
My partner and I have a 2008 2.0TDI Tiguan, had it for a year now. Throughout owning it, every few months we've had "STOP!
Check coolant" pop up on the dash. Always checked it, let the air out, coolant comes back up and the alert on the dash goes away.
Sometimes we do put more coolant in, but otherwise is always above minimum level.
Had our MOT 30th Jan, passed with only tyres as the advisories. Literally nothing else wrong... or so it seemed. Yesterday we went
to a different town to grab some bits to service the car. It had been smokey the last couple of days in the mornings, put it down to
it being cold. But whilst driving to the town about 10 miles away, there was a lot of smoke coming from the tailpipe, mainly white
smoke but with a hint of blue smoke mixed in. 9 miles in and we get "STOP! Check coolant". As always, we let the air out and it
all came back up. On the way back, smoke had gone and was driving okay for about 2-3 miles, and then started smoking again
and said to check coolant. Temperature never went up. Stays at a solid 90. Carried on going, once we got home it had lost a bit of
coolant, so put more in.
Serviced it, done an engine flush. Then we emptied the oil, looked absolutely fine. No signs of any milky/creaminess or even
shimmers of metal. Nothing, just black oil. Put fresh oil in, as well as doing other bits (pollen filter, oil filter etc).
Started the engine up, let everything flow through the engine and everything else. All was fine, but as soon as my partner hit the
throttle, huge white smoke and every so often a bit of blue coming from the tailpipe. Took it for another drive today, about a 30 mile
drive altogether. Absolutely fine 15 miles, the other 15 miles back, nothing but smoke, and you can hear the coolant flowing through
the engine on the passenger side... which we've never heard before, or at least not as noticeable as it is now. But after all the white
and bits of blue smoke coming out, we once again get the stop check coolant on the dash.
Don't believe it's the head gasket due to the oil being so clean and the temperature never rising..?

I would get a compression test done.

Just seen that you're in Bude. You're not that far if you want to meet say half way for a code read. I'm in the Liskeard area.
