First of all hello everyone, its been a few years since I've owned an Audi, had A3, A6, A7 in the past..

Anyway I bought a 2017 A6 Avant black edition 2 days ago, just today I gave the car a real good look over and have noticed a little bit of water in the boot floor, it was more so to the right of the floor underneath the "skin" that the battery sits on, i have since dried this all up and took out the carpet liner etc, I closed the boot lid and ran a hose on it for a while, I can't see water coming in anywhere?

Any help would be extremely appreciated

hi,
i had this issue on my previous A6 '12, did the same by cleaning it all up and ave the the seal good clean, massage and lubrication. Was fine after that. Double check your seals on the iner boot lid lights and make sure no water is getting past the foam seal on them. Common issue as well which can lead to faulty lights eventually

Thanks for that, went out this morning after a heavy night's rain and there's a very small puddle to the right rear of boot floor, still no sign of where its getting in but at least it's narrowed down which side of the car the water is getting in lol, will strip all plastics off and try the hose again....
Thanks again....

Spent today removing the rear bumper, lights etc and checking everywhere that there's there's possibility that water could enter the car (clips, screws, vents etc) and all look OK, cleaned all up and made sure all resealed,
I cannot see anywhere that water is entering but I did notice upon refitting the rubber boot seal that it was slightly out of shape in a few areas where it slots on to the bodywork, I cleaned it all up and straightened it back into shape and refitted, hopefully this sorts my problem...

Update.....

Completely stripped out the interior in the boot including insulation/sound proofing and rear fuse boxes, I noticed a small puddle sitting between the fuse box and arch area, I ran the hose on the fuel flap and water started to flow in from the arch area..... time to order a new fuel flap insert and actuator, that's bound to cure it

At the minute I'll happily buy a new insert and actuator if it solves my problem because it that doesn't fix the leak then I'm totally beat

temporarily tape up the gap between the inset and bodywork just to see if it stops the leak and confirm its the issue

I hate water leaks but VAG will have their cars as water tight as a submarine on the high voltage electric models, won’t they…:1zhelp:

Update....

I have now discovered I have not one but two leaks lol, there definitely is a leak at the fuel flap and also the leak in the boot floor.....
I hope I have narrowed down the area on the outside of the car where the water is getting in, the car has an aftermarket towbar fitted, I think the water is entering somewhere at the chassis leg where the towbar slots inside, having the towbar fitted is leaving the cavity wide open so I have removed it, I have looked on ebay for a crash bar and have noticed they have a rubber gasket that basically seals up the cavity, in the mean time ive made temporary blanking plates and bolted them over the chassis leg cavity to see if the solves the leak, my shopping list now includes a rear crash bar...

Nope, the blanking plates didn't work.... Next stop vent and I'm starting to lean against rubber boot seal as I've noticed there's two small gaps in the body work where the panels overlap each other under the seal.... I can only hope

Hope you manage to find your leak but I have the crash bar I took of my Bitdi Saloon when I fitted the tow bar. I don't know if the avant and saloon have the same crash bar but I can get the part number off it tomorrow and let you know if that would help?

Thanks for that but i have a second hand one on its way, only cost £35 so not spiteful at all...
With regards fitment I'm near sure the saloon and avant are the same? The towbar I removed had a sticker on it saying it fits saloon, avant and also the A7
