Hi all, I'm slowly working through all the problems on my GT TDI, there were quite a few. Since I've had it, the engine temperature has always sat between zero and 90 (1/4 way round). In addition to that, the heater has always been poor, tonight I had to have it set to max heat to get warmish heat out of the vents. I don't think I've ever had the Auxiliary coolant pump error, though my Dad's Mk6 has and I can't remember if I had it too.on my car. Is it likely to be the thermostat or could a blocked heater matrix cause this issue? Thanks in advance.

Golf 6 matix blockage isn't common but the thermostat failing in the open position can be. I would do a back flush and new thermostat using G12 Evo ready mixed coolant.

Many thanks. I'll get onto my garage and see if they fancy taking the job on - it doesn't look like the thermostat is an easy job. Are aftermarket stats ok or is it best to go O.E?
