I notice my drivers wing mirror indicator bulb has a different flashing sequence to it compared to normal, I'll get a bulb for it tomorrow but just wondering if this is actually an electrical issue like my VCDS suggests or may it be just a bulb? I have the cars annual Mot / Nct test the weekend so I'm just wondering if to start troubleshooting whilst I wait to get a bulb tomorrow.

Does the dash warn you if the indicators in the mirrors are blown, it warned me of the fog light bulbs blown.

could be a connection issue, but where? Start with the bulb and take it from there. Does it act differently with the door open? This could point to a damaged harness in the door.

Everything on the Golf 5 door, except the speakers, is operated by the door control unit by CAN BUS instructions

Mines a 3dr, I fitted a new bulb unit just now this evening and tried it briefly and it seems to be back to normal. There was a fault code in VCD relating to the indicator bulb.
I'll be driving it tomorrow and I'll know for definite then, cheers.

It read badly, I should have said "everything on a Golf 5's front door, except the speakers"
