Hi all,

Have issue with my Audi A3 2.0 TDI. Engine makes knocking/tapping noise on idle that follows acceleration. Car lost power and started juddering not far from home and developed this noise, managed to drive it and park it next to my place.
I have bought 2 used injectors and swapped them around, that did not fix it, noise is still there.

Any ideas where to look next?

I can't hear anything untoward there but those engines suffer cam train failure.

And camshaft is part of whole upper engine housing I believe + need new lifters and rockers.

Any idea where could I buy it and at what price?
Thanks.

We buy it genuine, what is the VIN?

Will take valve cover off and have a look at cams and lifters.

Yes yours has the chronically unreliable camshaft module, revised to part number 04L 103 044 Q and £2031.60 plus 16 roller arms 059 109 417 J at £17.41 each and 16 lifters 05L 109 521 at £14.38 plus cam belt kit, water pump plus three different types of silicone sealant and a big pile of bolts.

Seems a bit too expensive.
Is it good idea to fit a used camshaft housing with new rockers and lifters?

Have a look at my camshaft, all that rust can't be good.3913039131

We refuse to fit anything used unless new is unobtainable. This system is a disaster, a used one will probably be the same.
