Hi, I have had an airbag light come up on my tiguan.

I've scanned the code and it's coming back as 00588 - Airbag Igniter, Driver Side (N95): Short to Ground.

Did a lot of research and a lot people said to change the slip ring which I have twice just incase the first one was broke as well

This kept the light off both times for a couple of days but then it came back on.

I have removed the plug under the seat and that didn't work either. The light came back on after clearing it in around 2 days.

Have thought about swapping the whole airbag incase it's the wiring on that.

Anyone managed to sort this as its driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance for any help.

As I said on the other forum, why have you cut the side airbag wiring under the seat for a steering wheel airbag fault? Do you have the diagnostic scan read part number of the original and both second hand slip rings plus what is the VIN? 42 years of this **** has taught me second hand electronics are a mugs game.

I would guess because the under seat plugs are a known issue with Vws? If the OP did cut them then solder them back together and go again checking, as you say, the slip rings are an exact part number match including the letters at the end if applicable. If they arent it may cause problems. I have a short to ground on a N131 passenger side igniter 1 and its a pain to sort.
