Hi, can anyone out there advise me.

I have just bought my daughter a 2012 (62) VW Beetle 1.2TSI with the DSG gearbox. The car has done around 50k miles and has a full service history but the latter ones were not main dealer. I have noted that the DSG gearbox oil was NOT changed at the last two services at 35k and 45k. I am aware that some of these DSG gearboxes have a dry clutch and don’t require an oil change but others have the wet clutch and do.

I am sure a VW dealer would love to relieve us of £285 but can anyone tell me if this will be necessary with the Beetle we have bought?

Thanks … Kels

I am sure that will be the DQ250 7 speed dry clutch, what is the VIN?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I don’t have the vin yet as I viewed the car, drove it and paid a deposit on it on Sunday but don’t pay the balance/ collect it until Friday. The car drives very well, comes with lots of paperwork and it does appear that it has been very well looked after with no expense spared on keeping it maintained so I was initially surprised that it had not had a gearbox service. When I later did some research on the internet I found that it could be a dry clutch and therefore not requiring an oil change but can’t get a definitive answer. I will definitely be buying the car so if I may I will ask again next week when I have the vin number and full specs of the car in the service book …. Kels
