My 11/2006 A6 Allroad electric tailgate is playing up. It opens a few inches then closes. When this started it would work when the engine was running and there was 14v but not with the engine stopped. I thought that it was a battery fault, but now it happens even with the motor running. I changed the motors maybe 10 years ago, and they were second hand but even second hand they cost an arm and a leg. My aged brain turning to jelly forgets the circumstances at the time but I seem to remember it was a bit of a fiddle, or possibly more like a can of worms. Are there any other possibilities other than a tired motor and is there any way of finding out if it is just one motor which is failing or both. Are there any computer codes for this issue? On a pension I have to be very careful. I look forward to your observations.

It will be a 2007 model year, there was no 2006 model year AllRoad. The pre 2009 model year system was very unreliable, you need the repair kit 4F0 898 851 which is £793.20 plus a couple of N 106 855 01 screws at £2.40 each.

Thank you for that Crasher, I have to say that at the moment that expenditure is a bit out of my league, maybe I will have to save up, everything is so expensive these days, you may well suggest selling the car but with well over 300,000km on the clock it does not have a great value.

My A6 Avant had the same problem. I replaced the gas struts and everything now works fine. Just make sure you order the correct struts for the powered tailgate.

Hello, I had ordered the struts before your post appeared, I recall I had a similar issue years ago, yes I did order the parts for electric tailgate but guess what? They sent me struts for a saloon, they do not have a kink in the end, my search was specifically for A6 Allroad, which as we know was never made in saloon form, as far as I know. Tailgate now working.
