Hope someone can help me.
I bought this Audi a4 b8 2008 2.0tdi 170bhp but getting shocking mpg around 29 mpg driving locally and 34 mpg on motorway run. Got it terra cleaned and full service all the filters changed and still getting the poor mpg. I had diagnostic check nothing came up. Now I am thinking to sell it… lovely car but can’t be keeping a car like this specially if I do a lot of miles per year. So can anyone tell me if the mpg is correct or there is something wrong with my car? Thanks

I would guess at a blocked DPF and it has been tampered with.

I have the same model and it never goes below 30 mpg. Town driving is usually 35 and I regularly do a 115 mile motorway journey and get between 48 and 54 depending on traffic (If there's no traffic I aint hanging about!!) The cars got 180k on the clock. You've changed all the obvious things so you have to start looking at it a different way.
Let's break it down.
To get poor mpg you're burning too much fuel per mile.
How does a car burn too much fuel?
It's either 1, burning it inefficiently or 2. efficiently and not using the power created.
1. Could be the injectors creating a ****** spray pattern. Injecting too much fuel (I'd guess it would be very smokey). Not getting enough air in the cylinder, maybe the turbo not creating enough pressure. There's probably more reasons but that's all I can thin k of at the minute.
For 2 the only things I can think of are worn bores/rings or valves not seating.
You've probably got it sorted now or sold the car so I don't really know why I posted that ;)

My post is probably too late as well.
But I think I've got the same car, average over the last year is 50MPG - anything upto 60 in the summer on a good motorway run and down to 46 in the winter (over a full tank)
When I bought it it was terrible on fuel and the fault was a stuck front brake caliper that was mentioned on the MOT 6month prior and it hadn't been replaced. It was replaced under warranty along with discs and pads and made a huge difference.

thats jut where i was going - drag. I increased my mpg, only by about 3, but with no cost.
I fixed the uder trays secured them correctly. th elast person in there used cable ties ( poorly) and they were flapping about.
