Hi All,
Just looking for some help in finding a reputable Audi auto box repair shop in the UK.
Car has reverse gear fault and is throwing up the following fault codes:
P187B00 Gear selector 2 Engaging process not successful
P284A00 Shift fork 'B' stuck
I'm located in Glasgow area but would be willing to travel South if need be to get a successful repair.
Can anyone please recommend a good garage?
Thanks

Hi Crasher,
Correct it's an OB5.

0B5. These things are becoming a absolute disaster, personally I would not own a car with a 0B5 if it was given to me! I still have an A7 V6 quattro at my auto box specialists sittings in the car park whilst the owner, suppling dealer and the RAC warranty argue about who is going to pay the £10+ bill to put it right; the RAC want him to instruct the specialist to remove and strip at his risk. In this particular case VAG don’t offer a factory recon, you can only buy new and ZF won’t sell the parts even though ZF UK are just down the road from us. What is the cars VIN.

Sounds like you have problems as well, hope it gets sorted out for you.
VIN is WAUZZZ and gearbox code is NWQ.

Well it isn’t my problem any more as I passed the customer over to my gearbox chap as it was easier. Your full VIN would make it easier, PM it if you are concerned.

The NWQ is a 0B5 which they offer as a recon exchange under part number for £8643.60 retail inc VAT. You can buy a recon exchange Mechatronic 4G1 927 156 TX for £2772 but if this doesn’t cure the problem, you still have to buy an exchange box and you have to send the new mech back with the old box to fulfil the exchange rules, I have been there with an exchange engine (long story) and I can assure you it hurts.

I'll not be going down that route, it's probably going to cost more than the cars worth when labour is included.
Appreciate your input, many thanks.

I went to Milta Technology in Bristol.
Gearbox has worked superbly since they repaired it.
Took 5 days in total but well worth it.

Do you know what was the issue? Clutch or something else?

I think clutch plates were replaced but what other parts I'm not sure.

What was the cost and when did you have the work done?
