Hi, I just bought a friend of a friend's A6 Avant 6 speed manual and it needs a new clutch. I plan to change the flywheel whilst I am at it. Are there any guides on how to do this that anyone knows of? I did this to a 1.9tdi Leon before, although it took a while wasn't that bad of a job. Any help appreciated!

We just follow the erWin (https://erwin.audi.com/erwin/showHome.do) instructions if it is new to us. It is quite a lot heavier than the Leon, we have a gearbox jack; doing the job on the deck would be horrid. Don't be tempted by solid flywheel kits and stick to Sachs or LUK kits.

Thanks for the link, I appreciate that. I did the Leon on the drive, I don't have a lift or a jack ffs, just plenty axle stands and a good few jacks!

I will have a good look at this and make my mind up whether or not it is a DIY job! Yeah, I put a Sachs kit in the Leon, the solid flywheels aren't for a car you'd keep!

The thought of doing this on the drive... no thanks! A trolley jack would be important, well two; one for the box and one to tilt the engine.

I have an engine support beam I'd used before, it was a great help, but yes, you are right, still a pain!
