Hi looking for some help on a noise that has recently started on my 2009 2.0TDI CVT Cabriolet.

My local Garage is suggesting the Gearbox is on it's way out, this is possible I have had the car a year, prior to that it had sketchy ownership/servicing, first thing I did was get the transmission fluid changed, but who knows if that was done on a regular basis in the past. The garage assumes Gearbox failure as it "feathers", is possibly the way to describe it going through it's gear range. anyway long story short, they told me six months ago the gearbox could fail at any time. I live in Northern Ireland, Fermanagh location, I am told my nearest specialist is roughly 50 miles away, so before attempting to make the journey, would it be possible for you to listen to the noise the car is making and in your opinion possibly suggest what it may be. Granted a knocking noise could be absolutely anything but I figure a few more opinions cant hurt in trying to ascertain if my gearbox is on it's way out. Noise not there when the car is stationary and revved, noise also not very noticeable under 40MPH and 1400RPM Thank you, obviously any further info required I will try to provide, but I am far from mechanical.

yeah fair point, so the metallic rattle is carp hanging from the rear view, the main noise I am worried about you can hear dying down towards the end of the video as the car slows down not sure how to describe it really, the drone could have been a since replaced tyre.
