Before I bought my (manual) car, online sources suggested the MPG would be around 60 MPG with the automatics being around 70.
I knew the car wouldn't end up achieving those figures - they never do.
In 2 years of ownership, I have never achieved anywhere near 50mpg on any kind of road or with any kind of driving. I specifically bought the Ultra to try to get as much
The best average I can get is 44mpg on a long, carefully driven run in Efficiency mode with driver only and no load. That's no better than my fully loaded 2001 diesel Vx Omega.
Is this normal?
In comparison, our 7-seat C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 HDI is difficult to get UNDER 50 MPG and is usually 55 MPG average even with 7 people in it.
Is Efficiency mode the best mode for MPG?

I can get 38mpg out of my 2021 S6 Avant on a steady motorway cruise 65-75 mph

I see 24-26 mpg on RS6 at 75 mph-ish if that makes you feel any better

What year is your RS6? Im seriously thinking of ditching the C8 S6 and getting a C7 RS6 facelift.

Over a distance of 36716 miles in my 2012 C7 2.0 TDI SE Manual I achieved (using the car's numbers) an average of 41.86mpg, but this includes a lot of short journeys and communiting into West London on the A30. On long Motorway trips I would regularly see over 50, with a steady cruise at around 75mph. On my 2015 C7.5 2.0TDi Ultra SE Manual I averaged 44.57mpg over 42616 miles, similar profile of driving. On one occasion I actyaly saw nearly 65mpg, but that included a long section of 50mph contraflow on the M6. On the c8 2.0TDi Ultra Sport Auto over 17894 miles I saw an average of 47.18mpg. The C8 2.0TFSi Ultra Auto is aveging 32.64 over 4542 miles, but a lot of that is short trips due to working at home

2016 with 8100 miles on it so far. Maybe the fuel consumption might get better as the engine loosens up a bit more ;)... i Wish !!

2.0 ultra avant, black, sportline, 65 plate. Overall 42 mpg, on a sensible motorway run 50 mpg, only once on a regular 110 mile run it managed 60 mpg.

50k miles just rolled round since I got mine. DSG, S-Line, 18" wheels, the 50k average is 49.4mpg. I've had much much better, but like today, I did 150 miles, but about 140 of them were at a nice steady 70 and it was reporting 57.9mpg, but then....traffic.... The average today now the weather is improving was 52.3....

I'm around 47mpg average, also manual but on 20" wheels but don't help. My previous A6 did 49 average on 18" wheels. I sometimes use efficiency mode around town but don't bother much these days.
Have you checked tyre pressures and tweaked the aircon settings? May help a bit but by far the biggest impacts I've noticed are traffic and my own right foot.

My auto is getting 46 at the moment. Used to be 48 but I'm not doing any distances at the moment. Only 6k miles last year.

3.0 BiTDi Quattro on 20" wheels - in M1 roadworks, Derby to Leeds, so c 50mph I have seen 54mpg.
My 70k miles average is 37.4 mpg which isn't that bad to say its 320 bhp.

Not bad considering one can't get into top gear at that speed!
