A fan continues to run, after engine is turned off, until battery is flat on my Audi RS4, 2006

VCDS shows no faults.

Looking at other postings, I looked for relay 219 thinking that removing this would stop the fan. But my RS4S had no relay 219. Instead it has only the following relays which I checked as follows:

Relays under the ECU unit in the engine bay by the bulkhead

I removed relays numbered 373, 614 and 614. The fan continued to run despite their removal. I did not remove the smaller relays numbered 395 and 395.

Relays inside the cabin, behind the panel, in front of the foot pedals

I removed relays numbered 642, 645, 645, 373, 373 and 395. The fan continued to run despite their removal. I did not remove the bright green edged items – which may be thermal trippers - slotted in below the relays.

Any tips, on what I might try next, would be appreciated.

Additional comment on other postings suggests, if the relays are OK, that fan controller 8k0959501 may be the cause. Is the fan controller easy to test to confirm or eliminate that as the cause (it looks like an expensive part).

Any suggestions for a independent mechanic in Essex or east London, who might be able to look at an RS4, would also be appreciated.

Which fan, large or no so?

Crasher,

When standing in front of the car, looking down into the engine bay, it seems to be the fan to the right (N/S/F like) that won't stop. I'm sure that's the one becuase I can feel airflow there.
