Hi guys, I have a VW Passat 2009 CBAB which I changed clutch kit and flywheel from Sachs today at a local mechanic. My car is 178k and apparently never changed clutch or flywheel.

After he finished with work, I did go for a test drive, at some point I did a front bay park then reversed a little bit to adjust parking. As soon as I lifted my foot enough for the biting point of the new clutch, I immediately noticed judder, both in first gear or reverse.
He claimed to be the parts as he apparently followed all the correct steps and procedures and it may "settle" after using it a bit, but my problem is, if this judder happens when parts are new, when flywheel will start being worn, then will it probably be considerably worse?

Can you please let me know if you have experienced anything like this, and if you could tell me the possible cause of this issue, it is very frustrating when I spent over £900 for doing gearbox oil and couple of bad bushes as well.

Many thanks! Drive safe!

A full Sachs kit should not judder, we are doing the same job tomorrow on a Sharan be on this we are using LUK which is another OE supplier like Sachs. For it to jibber something is definitely wrong but it could be the subframe gearbox toque reaction mount has failed as can happen when it is dismantled.

178k on an original clutch? That’s good going the most I ever seen was around 140k. It’s very unlikely that the judder will go away. It has all the hallmarks of a cheap single mass conversion. Do you trust your mechanic ok? Where did you buy the kit from? Please don’t say techniclutch off eBay as they have an alleged tendency to fake popular clutch manufacturers products and mix their own cheap rubbish in with the real parts.
