Hi all,

I've recently found my camshaf sensor was producing a no signal/implausible signal on a fault code scan, I had an extended crank on start up and it would start hard. So I've purchased a new sensor from Euro Car Parts (Haas Camshaft position sensor product code 41944090) and fitted with a new belt etc.

I've then used VCDS to ensure my timing is accruate, on doing this I found that the fuel was at 1.2l/hr so adjusted to 0.4l/hr . However, despite fitting a new sensor to the camshaft, the torsion value reads 0.0kw until the car's RPM is lifted then it gives values all over the shot (-60 to +45). Once warm and settled it will stay on 0.0 but then will jump between -20 to + 20. Car runs fine, any ideas?

Here is said pics from VCDS

So the torsion value jumps at idle?

Not whilst warming up, it stays at 0.0. When the coolant temp got to 75-80c it jumped to both negative and positive numbers.
When raising revs it also jumps momentarily, and when letting revs drop it does it too.

I should add despite the new sensor the car is still throwing the implausible signal code

Did you use locking tools?

Yeah, could't get them to be an exact fit in the cams when the crank lock was on and in TDC though. Are you thinking it's way out which is why it's throwing bizzare numbers?

It has to be so precise; even a tiny way out and it will not be happy.

I’ve seen bizarre numbers on cheap eBay cam sensors and also when the cam pulley tabs get damaged.
