Hi all,
What is involved in a ‘major service’?
I’m hoping it will consist of (at least) new: air, pollen, fuel and oil + filters?
Can anyone clarify?

Thanks

Steve

This may help.

but watch out on the major service in regard to the fuel filter, mine was not changed until my 3rd service, minor, as at the time of the major the dealer said it did not need doing as I had only done around 20k and it did not need changing until at least 30-35k !!! I got in writing from them that whatever the mileage was at the next service it would be done at no extra charge. It’s 3rd was at 28k and the kept there word. Best to confirm what they will change when you book it in in writing…

I suppose as Elansear has said it really depends on mileage. I do between 22000 and 27000 a year. One service is oil, oil filter and air filter. Air filter is cheap enough so I just change it. Other service is oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and pollen filter. I also change the brake fluid every two years. So this myself so maybe more than the garage!

With cars on the digital service system the list is made much easier for main dealers or registered independents because the system tells you what is needed, such as the cam belt at 240k km or 2036, makes Audi ringing you up nagging about a cam belt at four years look rather embarrassing. We did the first service on a supposedly 1 year old Q3 today with 14k miles. I am off until next week but tried to help the workshop remotely. I ran into a problem that the Audi dealer in Leeds who sold it registered the car nearly a year after it was delivered and had it’s PDI service which meant the system would not give me the recommendations without me going back and changing the date of registration which would be an 11 month lie. Also discovered during the service was unusual lacquer damage to the right front wheel, I think something happened to this car during shipping, the car is a year older than the owner is aware of.
