My Audi A6 Avant 2.0 Ultra 2016 SE Executive that has done just over 100k in just under 5 years, will very soon need brake pads and discs replaced, as well the timing belt.

I learned from a friend's network that it was suggested to him to use brake pads from Textar or Brembo, and brake discs from Brembo or Pagid. My local garage cannot source these, but they will fit if I provide them. I checked online and it is not very clear if the brake wear sensors and cable are included in the brake pads pack, or they need to be ordered separately? Does one also need to replace the cables? Could anyone elucidate that to me?

Also, for the timing belt is there a pack that includes all the additional bits and bobs needed on top of the timing belt that I can acquire? The garage told me that they can call the dealer to obtain OEM parts, but they are likely to be more expensive than what they normally provide, and that if I can source them cheaper they could fit it. Can anyone suggest the best course of action by any chance?

Personally Pagid for ease of availability and decades of dependable use. I have an issue with the 5 year interval, Audi say 150k miles and no time limit which is a figment of VAG UK’s imagination.

The official advice for my car is 5 years or 140k miles, as confirmed by Audi when I enquired, as it is not specified anywhere in the documentation that the owner receives. Is your issue that 5 years is too long?

And do I need to change the water pump at the same time as the timing belt? My understanding was that the 2.0 Ultra engine does not need to.

You mean that Pagid create a lot of dust? My driving is quite leisurely, and my chief concern is good braking for safety, and something that will not cause other bits and bobs to deteriorate, I don't mind dust, although, thinking about it, the pads that were fitted at about 55k miles do seem dustier than the ones the car came with. Don't know what the garage fitted, though..

Anyone used Textar?

The website says that this is for the pre-facelift version, mine is facelift. For my car it's just an SFK kit (348440819) or Ina (348440778). So it is not worth going for the OEM version?

EDIT: My wrong, there is a Dayco unit as well (348440816), but available only for collection, and not in my area.

I found their website, but where can they be bought from? And do they come with the sensor included? Do I need to buy the cable sensor separately?

The digital Audi service system says that the interval is 240k klicks. On a four year old Ultra we did a few days back just before I was off for an opp (actually it is nearly three weeks, where has the time gone?) which we have serviced exclusively since new (as with more Audi’s than anything else, the people of Nottingham hate Sytner Audi, snotty gits) the DSS specified the cam belt was due in 2038, yes 2038! If your car is on the DSS, the dealer or registered independent repairer can see on the screen the mileage and date that each job as it is laid out by VAG in GERMANY, not the profit driven machinations of VAG UK, this VAG UK 4 or even 5 year no matter what the mileage is a lie and a rip off; I would challenge any VAG dealer to prove to me otherwise… GO ON, GO FOR IT! And that’s not (just) the Morphine speaking, it has been bugging me for a while.

They are a tricky company to deal with. For a start most orders take two weeks or more from their Berlin base, they have a few other names as well such as online cars parts, buy car parts and others, all part of Mr Wagners Russian backed organisation. Brexit has just made this worse. By bad experience we have learnt to photograph the package as it arrives and step by step as it is opened and checked off, without this they will not accept any order shortfall problems. Secondly, before a part is installed, it needs to be checked BEFORE it is removed from the packaging, we had a gear shift cable that turned out to be 5mm too long during installation, it was ordered correctly. When we checked, the part number was subtly wrong by a sub letter, K instead of J and as it was out of the packaging it became a warranty issue, not supply problem. This entailed filling out a four page report including pictures and this was refused as we had missed the subtle digit difference. They have access to a massive range of products at good prices but awful delivery speed and if you have a problem, the hoops of fire you have to jump through just gets too much so you cave in and accept it.

I guess any motor factor on account with Ferodo can get them , low dust good braking that's good for you and the environment that all future pads will be defined by with future legislation .

I was thinking, if I order the parts myself and take them to the local garage, what is the warranty status if the ordered part is wrong, if the part does not fit, or any other matter? Should I ask the garage to note the part and serial numbers of he items? How is that commonly handled?

Garages usually handle people who bring their own parts by politely saying “go do one”. Parts supplies are generally incompetent and depend too much on “what’s the reg number?” And not years of hand on experience, parts departments should be staffed with ancient crusty old grease monkeys like me, not young bloods who should be throwing spanner’s, not selling bits over the phone.

Personally I go for a five year beltkit change from my local 'steve' regardless of mileage.

I will go with the advice that I got through my friend and I got these items:

Brembo Brake Disks
Pads and Discs for AUDI A6 C7 Avant (4G5, 4GD) 2.0 TDI (https://www.bremboparts.com/europe/en/catalogue/audi-a6-c7-avant-4g5-4gd-2-0-tdi/000100059-1?producttypes=Disc&isProductListFiltered=true)
Front (1LA): Brembo 09.B972.11
Rear (1KW): Brembo 08.A759.11

Brake Pads
Front (1LA): Textar 2440903 (Wear Contact Integrated) (brakebook.com - Brake Pad Set, disc brake (https://textar.brakebook.com/bb/textar/en/2440903_402/datasheet.xhtml))
Rear (1kW): Textar 2521402 (Wear Contact Integrated) (brakebook.com - Brake Pad Set, disc brake (https://textar.brakebook.com/bb/textar/en_GB/2521402_402/datasheet.xhtml))

On the Textar website it shows that the pads come with all the cables and sensors included, do I read it right? Do I also need to replace the callipers, or not?

Any suggestions for Timing Belt Kit for the same vehicle?

Found a few timing belt kits. Some have a water pump in, some have an oil pump belt too. My understanding is that in the case of my car the water pump is not driven by the timing belt, but I don't know about the oil pump. Probably other cars that use the same kit do have a different water pump and oil pump configuration where these are needed?

Basically, which kit should I order, the one with the water pump, the one without the water pump, and then the one with or without the additional belt, which apparently is for the oil pump?

EDIT #1 (https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) : I was told that I should use Conti Timing belt kit with water pump, which seems to be driven off the timing belt, as per 7zap.com.

There are two Conti Tech kits with the water pump, CT1168WP1 and CT1168WP9, the only difference being the water pump, WP6098 in the former and WP6123 in the latter. I could find no clear information about the differences in water pumps, but ******* states in the description of the CT1168WP1 kit (with the WP6098 water pump) “switchable water pump, with integrated disabling contact”, and for the CT1168WP9 (with the WP6123 water pump) “non-switchable water pump, with integrated disabling contact”. Any ideas which one should I order?

EDIT #2 (https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=2) : I now found out that my car, engine DDDA, needs CT1168WP1 kit (with the WP6098 water pump): “switchable water pump, with integrated disabling contact”. This information might be useful for someone.
