Hi so unknowingly I recently bought a 1.9tdi BKE (so I'm told). It's 2008 with 89k miles.

So here's my question, so since buying it I've discovered it has the BXE engine, I think. Its also the DPF model according to 'mycarcheck'. Happy to supply reg to any 'knowing' individual

So do I need to do that conrod bearing thing with the bolt? Is it pricy as something that technical I cannot do myself! And what millage should I have it done by? As it probsbly be 3 years before I break the 100k mark! (I don't drive much but when I do its long distance). My local go to garage said this would classify as engine rebuild which they will not touch, and recommended a company to me about an hours drive away! Which is unrealistic unless I sat and waited for work to be done! If anyone knows anyone around Newport, Wales that would be great.

Only other issue I know of is it seems to be 'pulsing' under the clutch at stationary speeds or 1st/2nd. Its always there just not so apparent and its never so bad I'd worry. Last owner who inknow said it'd been like it since he'd got it, and I do seem to remmeber when I borrowed the car for an afternoon a few years back it was the same! Then I gotta finally work out what I'm doing about this stupid ipod Dock in arm rest, I don't want the hassle of finding a stereo that works with steering wheel controls without having to run alot of new wires!

Thank you for any suggestions!

Yes where can I get them done? I tried 3 local garages, all 3 have said 'gotta go to an engine referb company' or something similar!

And what sort of money should I be expecting to pay

The bxe doesn’t have a dpf. Due to the age and value of the car it may not be worth getting the work done. Loads of done 200k without it but it’s what your happiest with.
