Hi guys
I have a Passat B7 2012 2.0 TDI 114.000 miles.
I’m experiencing that randomly it won’t start. I have tyre pressure monitor fault parking brake error and ESC fault on the dashboard. I take the key out trying again and it’s working. The engine never cuts off and drives well on every gear.
Sometimes disappears for days then it comes back and I’m struggling starting it up.
Battery is new and tested, ECU is dry.
I have a chinese head unit installed instead of the original one.
On the scanner theese 2 codes came on
01314-ECU-no signal and 01325- tyre pressure monitor system.
Weird enough this car never had tyre pressure monitoring system.
Not sure if anyone experienced the same issue if you guys have any ideas please share that with me.
Thanks in advance.
Have a great weekend:)

Is the new battery an AGM type?

From Ross-tech :-
01314 - Engine Control Module01314 - Engine Control Module: No CommunicationsPossible Causes
CAN-Databus Wiring/Connectors from/to Engine Control Module faulty
Fault(s) stored in Engine Control Module
Engine Control Module recently flashed or re-mapped
Possible Solutions
Check CAN-Databus Wiring/Connectors from/to Engine Control Module
Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
Usually Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) 125+ show the current Communication Status
Special Notes
When found in the (1K) chassis with 2.5L gas engine using a MAF (G70) sensor, check the T121/62 (Red/Black) traced power wire to the ECM. If power is missing or a voltage drop is present that wire may be damaged anywhere between 6" and 18" from the connector itself. This will result in no communication in addition to a no-start.
Based on 2.5L Jetta feedback over the years a majority look like this example (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/images/4/48/Damaged_T121-62_2007_Jetta_2.5L_BGQ_ECM.jpg) however some are damaged further away per this example: with the close-up and distant views (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/images/4/4c/Damaged_T121-62_2006_Jetta_2.5L_ECM.jpg).
01314 - Engine Control Module: Check DTC MemoryPossible Causes
Fault(s) stored in Engine Control Module
Possible Solutions
Check Engine Control Module for Fault Codes
Special Notes
Engine Control Module stored a Code which influences other Control Modules Functionality.
To clear this Fault Code you will need to correct the Problem in the Engine Control Module first.
I would get a VCDS scan done first & see what that throws up.

philipharmes the guys from the garage after the diagnosis said the 01314 code is appearing in connection with data bus, power steering, brake button, central electrics, brake electronics.
Not sure if I have got this right but this is what they wrote down.
The car still starts and drives only sometimes this happens when is taking about 4-5 attempt to try till fires up.
I will attach a video might help.
Thank you for your help.

In which controller do you get 01314?

If you watch your video carefully you will see that the engine light doesn't illuminate the first few times you operate the ignition.
The last time you switch on the ignition it illuminates straight away & the car starts.
Without looking at a wiring diagram, I am assuming the engine light is driven from the ECU.
So am guessing that the ECU isn't being powered until the last time you switch on the ignition.
Have a look at these youtube videos where you can see the ECU is powered up by the 100 relay in the engine bay fuse box.
VW Golf 5 1.9TDI ECU relay power for engine control module - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEAkWIoAvCA)
VW / AUDI relay 100 test and measure 7MO 951 253A /secondary fuel pump relay?/ - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCQ_vt4_dqk)
I'm guessing it could be the relay itself or wiring associated with it.
If you are handy with a test meter it should help to get to the bottom of the problem.
Best of luck.

That looks like a faulty CAN BUS unit, check it for water damage.

Crasher Will check that. Is it difficult to replace? Will it need coding? Thanks very much for all the info

No too bad to get at under the drivers dash but it will need coding to match the car and the unit has been updated multiple times so the original coding may not be useable. We did one on a Golf 7 last week which was doing daft things like yours and the brand new unit from TPS would not work with the original coding so I had to use ODIS to build the code and ODIS pointed out the new units software needed updating.

Crasher That might be a bit complicated for me 😬 what would you recommend to do? I wouldn’t mind getting the car to you if you think you can do it? I just want it to be functional.
How much should I expect cost wise?
Thanks

The part number for the CAN BUS is 7N0 907 530 AN Z01 and is £202.67 but it must be ordered using the VIN as it is a VIP, (Vehicle Intelligent Part). Because Kendal is much more norf than me, I think it would be a good idea to try a line 15 relay first. This is part number 4H0 951 253 A and costs £22.49, it is located under the dash on the drivers side in the lower strip of relays at position number 2 with the group number 645 printed on top. At posistion1 there is another 645 relay which is for the heated rear window and to its right a pair of 646 relays. If that doesn't help I think you would be looking at getting it recovered to me one way or another.

Will keep you updated don’t mind the distance but you look very knowledgable about it so would be happy if you would take care of this. Thanks again
