1st and 2nd gear problem

I purchased a 2016 A6 2.0 tdi ultra last Friday and at times there is a problem selecting 1st and 2nd gears
the car takes away no problem with 1st and 2nd gears, it is when I have to drop down gears at the likes of
junctions it happens,
is this a common problem with the 2.0 tdi ? I have never experienced this with any other car/model
