Hi, I'm trying to set up radio station logos on the 10 inch infotainment system in my Golf 8 Style. I can get the list of logos in the unit's memory but the ones I want to use aren't in it (Classic FM and Smooth UK, both very popular so why not?). I have a USB stick, formatted FAT32 with the logo files on it, png file types and 160 x 120 pixels. How do I get the system to transfer the file in from the stick? I can't see any route on the screen to the usb stick files; it does read music files and album artwork for the media player.

I'm not very familiar with it yet, had no trouble with logos on my 2017 Golf and also a 2018 Polo but can't see how to do this and the manual is no help.

Not sure it has that feature, I know it was on the Golf 7, but neither the Golf 8 or my A6, which both use the MIB3 infotainment platform have this feature. I think it is up to the relevant radio stations to make their logo available to audio equipment manufacturers. Wonder if it s an image resolution issue, logo made available is too large or too small tobe acpeted by the car

Thanks John. 160 x 120 pixels was required on my '17 Golf but I can't see a path to the usb stick, only in the media section. I'm going to get onto wifi later, maybe internet radio will pull in the logos.

It had a white screen for radio etc when I collected it; just found out by accident how to set it dark, much less distracting. I guess time and experimentation will give the answers.

I think in the Radio section there is the option to force a retune of the available DAB stations. Might be if you do that you will get some additional logos

Thanks again. It's not that important, just looks odd on the favourites screen withh 3 bbc logos and 2 plain ones. No success getting internet radio via wifi, the car finds my wifi but it won't tune to internet radio. Maybe through my mobile when the right lead arrives. Cheers

The car only uses WiFi on your phone for Internet access or via a paid for service on the esim.

It's temperamental as hell though.

Coming back on this one after solving the problem. I finally got round to accessing MyVolkswagen account and setting up WeConnect and myself as primary user. I got onto the internet through wifi; the car picked up my BT Internet wifi hotspot even though parked outside on the road. Once wifi was connected I used the configuration wizard to find internet radio stations and the logos I needed were downloaded with the internet stations. The logos also appear when the radio is set to FM/DAB so problem solved. I suspect the internet connection could have come through my phone if data connection was on but I chose to use wifi.

I tried the same with zero success.
I got the car connected to my home wi-fi and did as you tried but never got the station logos to come through for the DAB channels.
I have around half that do have them so guess that will have to do.

I have to admit that I must have been confusing internet and DAB stations - back to where I started i.e. no logos for Classic FM and Smooth unless I'm using internet radio. You would think the system could read the image file from the usb connection and store it like the previous versions with SD cards but no.

I think the issue may be that the world of DAB has moved on since the Mk7 Golf where you could download DAB logos. It would seem that the stations now boradcast their own logos either as part of the EPG or as part of the xPAD Station Logos on DAB Displays — Digital Spy (https://forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/2340064/station-logos-on-dab-displays) If the logo is not appearing then it is probably due to it not being transmitted, Obviously when listenting to Internet radio it is a different source so the logo is transmitted in a differnt way

Sounds exactly like what I got.
I get every logo when on the internet radio stations but when it’s DAB it’s all the BBC ones and around 40-50% of the others.
I can live with it but I will try to re tune the DAB radio when I’m next in a place I know has a great reception to see if that makes any difference.

It's going to be that for some reason British stations don't comply with standards... I'll bet Germany has station logos...

I queried the transmission of station logos with Global, Classic FM (and others) parent company and had the following reply:-

"Many thanks for contacting Global.

I have asked our technical team for advice, and they have advised me that this will be to do with the car manufacturer. The logo doesn't get sent over FM/DAB. There may be something in your car manual to upload them as previously but its not something we are able to assist with unfortunately.

All the best

So the only ones who can sort this are VW themselves, presumably with a software update sometime in the future. I noted that the station logo download from VW for older infotainment systems is lacking a lot of common logos, so don't hold your breath.

Seems it’s a VW issue.
Picked up a new Audi A3 and every single DAB stations logo is available.

I think that these logos comes from the radio database, which will update over the internet. Manual says that...
