7" to 8" MMI

Hi,
Unfortunately, I had to stop very quickly behind a BMW 1 series at the weekend. I had a step ladder poking through the front seats which went forward & broke the MMI screen..!!
I've been looking for a replacement screen on eBay. I have a 7" screen currently, but was thinking about fitting an 8.25" screen instead. My questions are:
Will I have any issues?
Will the screen have a different resolution? If so, will the rest of the MMI recognise it?
Will it have to be coded at all?
