Hi,

A few weeks ago my bonnet catch went kaput and was not registering the bonnet as being closed. In addition, the obligatory oil warnings went off (oil level, oil sensor workshop).

I disconnected the sensor before taking it to the garage. The garage fitted a new bonnet catch which is working.

However, since the fix the Oil Sensor Workshop warning comes on every so often, as does the Oil Level warning. This is with the oil being at the correct level. In addition, the front right parking light bulb warning comes on every so often.

These are not constant things as they come and go. I am due to take the car back to the garage in a couple of weeks but I wondered if anyone had experienced this before and had any advice.

I do not know much about car engines and wiring but this feels like either a wiring issue or something to do with the fuses.

Apologies for the length of the post. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Was the bonnet catch replaced with a genuine OEM part?

I think I’ve had this problem in the past when the switch on the bonnet catch that registers whether it was open or closed was on the way out.

have a look in the engine bay and follow the Bowden cable that goes to the bonnet catch and check they reconnected the electrical plug /

connector.

I remember this usually causes the symptoms you have.

OEM part number for bonnet lock is 1K1 823 509 E (contact switch is 1K0 953 236 D).

Thanks for the advuce

In terms of the OEM part probably not.

I had a fiddle around over the weekend. None of the wires look perished or damaged. I've checked all the plugs are securely in place as well.

I did not the bracket holding the plug for the bonnet switch was not fixed properly to the body- I've rectified this.

Since then the warning lights have not come on. I'll keep an eye out obviously and see how it goes.
