I have just purchased a 2007 Audi A4 S Line 2.0 tdi estate but the remote not operating central locking and I am looking for some help and advice please.

I haven`t purchased a workshop manual yet but I was wondering whether any forumers could assist with some tips on what to do next. The batteries in the remote appear ok as they operate the small led light when the buttons on the remote are pressed ( although I will be looking to replace these anyway when the replacements arrive ). I can manually lock and unlock the drivers door using the key, however all other doors remain locked from the outside but will open when their individual inside door handles are operated, once this procedure has been carried out the doors will then open from the outside.

It seems a similar set up to my old Golf where it is one press on the remote button to unlock the drivers door and two presses of the remote to unlock all doors.

Many thanks in anticipation ;)

The ideal first step is a code read of the convenience system but also remove the passengers sill trim, lift up the very thick heavy carpet and see if it is wet around the plastic box which is the convenience unit. This is an A6 but it is the same

Many thanks Crasher for following me across to the Audi section of VWAF after my VW golf was written off and unfortunately the Insurance company wouldn`t allow me to retain the vehicle.

Since my original post I was given a handbook to borrow from a neighbour further down the road who owns a 2006 Audi 3 litre diesel estate. I approached the owner this afternoon regarding my issue and he recalls having to use page 60 of the handbook ages ago when he had a similar issue. I have tried the process detailed in the handbook but without any success. A copy photo is attached to this post for anyone else who may wish to try this process.

Will now be following the instructions you supply in your post the Crasher sometime over the next couple of days. ;)

Many thanks for your interest and advice, greatly appreciated.
