I’ve got some small areas of bubbling paint just above the front wheel arch on both sides on a 2008 model. I’m trying to avoid a bodyshop due cost, and have found various videos on YouTube on how to do the work. The paint colour is Granite Green Metallic. Two questions please. 1. Can anyone suggest where I can source the correct spray paint at a sensible price (does it have to be main dealer)? 2. If I do it myself, is it going to look okay? I know bodyshops normally blend the whole side, but I’m really trying to keep costs down. Any advice would be great thanks.

1.You can get paint from your local auto paint suppliers, these are also present online on the auction site, but even Halfords can mix you paint. 2. If you go straight to the panel on the car probably not, it takes practice, every step of it takes some perfecting. It really depends on what the person considers okay. From my own experience I struggled with the mettalic flakes, for me they never sat right unless I used hvlp (spray gun) and even then when all distances, blending and settings are right.
Halfords also supply these handy sandpaper assortment packs that more or less cover a small project.

I'm not expert and have no experience of working with rust, but I went down this route for my wheel arch, its blue again and that's all that matters to me and not rusty looking now.
