2006 VW Golf rear tailgate washer blocked....any tips or advice needed please.

Been tinkering about with the blocked rear tailgate washer on my 2006 VW Golf today.

I have tried to unblock the washer jet from the out side wiper arm using the old needle prodding process without any luck. I opened the tailgate and slid the plastic clip that holds the washer pipe to the L shaped spout at the rear of the wiper arm. I tried the washers and water came out of the pipe easily. I fed a thin piece of stiff wire into the L shaped spout at the rear of the motor to feel for a possible blockage before reattaching the pipe and trying the rear washer but it is still blocked.

I have attached a photo of the rear of the rear wash wiper to help with my description.

Has anyone else had experience of trying to unblock stubborn blockages. I have not tried blowing through L shaped spout with a compressor yet as I thought the pressure may be too much. Just wondering if it is possible to dismantle the rear of the mechanism that the washer pipe attaches to?

You can pull the jet out with a pair of pliers and check the water is actually flowing and a new jet 3B9 955 985 A is £13.39 genuine.

I haven`t got around to refitting the plastic tailgate trim on the inside from the tailgate handle/emblem repair yet so it made sense to investigate the blockage. Didnt want to pull/push/prod/lever anything without getting some words of advice first. ;)

Certainly will do.

Didn`t realise the jet/nozzle on the end pulled out and could be purchased as a seperate item. Have now seen the video and it looks identical to my Golf, so weather permitting I hope to have a look tomorrow. ;)

Quick update and a couple of photos.

Removed the washer jet before soaking it in soapy water, cleaning and unblocking it. I found that if you pull a wire bristle from a wire brush it is just right for unblocking the jet.
