Hi Guys,

I've had warnings of low battery during the cold spell we've just had. As the car and its battery are now 7+ years old, I decided to change the battery before it stops altogether. So I bought and installed a nice new Varta G14 this morning.

However, I'd like to recode the car to let it know.

I don't have OBDeleven ou VCDS, so I'm just looking at the cheapest app that would let me do it. I don't need anything fancy. I have access to both an iPhone and and Android phone, so no preference there.

Anyone can share their experience / advice?

TIA

Well, we're still confined, so wouldn't want to bother anyone. And I'm not a pro, that's probably the most I'd do. That and read / clear codes as and when, if needed.

I think Carista can do it so however much you can pick one up for.

Thanks, I'll look into Carista.

Can Torque pro do it?

Can Torque pro do it?I don't think so. You get a free month with Carista when you buy their adapter.
I haven't changed a battery with it though. Might be worth looking at their FB group if you can.

Obdeleven will be bout £60 depending on which which model you buy. But you will need the pro model so you can Long code

Well I would need that, and it's £99 I think. Also they use "credits", and I'm not keen to have to fork out more if I want to use it on my car (or any other).

I understand it's their business model, I'm not criticising. I just think I'm not their target (and don't really fancy being it)

You can get 5 free credits a day, which you use on “apps” (which are like coding shortcuts). Diagnostics are free and if you buy the pro long coding is free as well. It’ll cost you about £60 if your using an android device. Plus you can download the app now and start building up your credits. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210221/44c7b0bfb603892cd1f7d07306cca1a8.jpg

OBD11 with a pro licence lets you into the wonderful world of long coding, I don't think Carista does.

What does long coding allow then? Same capabilities as full VCDS?
