Anyone know what the silver box is?

Hey all. Just an amateur who decided to change his brake pads. I decided to poke around under the wheel arch to kill some time and came across this silver box. Does anyone have any idea what it is? it looks quite new in comparison to everything else on the car. :confused:
Photo is of the front drivers side arch and we're facing towards the rear of the car. (07 reg A3 8p)

Does have any wires going to it? Could be a black box.

None that we could see from our angle... we were wondering if it was a black box too. If it were a tracker, you could fit a substantial battery in there :(. Trackers these days aren't active 24/7 so self contained power sources can last up to 5 years
