Headlight Leveler

Hi,
I need to replace the leveler on a 2004 TDI Touran. Do I need to remove the headlight to do this?

The manual type with Halogen lights or the HID automatic system?

It's the Halogen variety with the adjusting wheel under the light switch.

From memory I think you can rotate and unlock it in situ but I think it is difficult to unhook it from the reflector so bumper off and headlight out. It is the same part as the Golf 4 and Octavia 1 and on mine I had to take it out but Octavia 1 lights are very easy to remove.

Thanks, I was hoping not to have to drop the bumper but - oh well...!
When it goes back together, will it set itself by adjusting all the way down then all the way up, or is there a midway to find first?

In theory it should stay where it is but I would suggest a friendly MOT chaps help.

Out of curiosity, does it just do the dip reflector or does it adjust both?

On the Octavia 1 it is both as it is an H4 unit, I have never noticed if it is both on a Touran or others which use H7's.

Just discovered both not working. Might have to wait for a change in the weather now.
