Hi all!

Next week I'll pick up new golf mk8 style with dsg :)

The issue I'm having or rather the thing I'm thinking about right now are winter tires since the car is on summer ones.

Car has currently 17 inch wheels with 225/45 tires and I'm wondering:

- Should I purchase just the same 225/45 r17 and fit them on the car

- Purchase for example steel rims and go for 205/55 r16

- [Optional] purchase all season 225/45 r17

Now I don't care about the look, but from what I can see VW suggest 205/55 r16.

I've asked the dealer, but their answer is just buy them from us and I prefer to purchase on my own a better quality ones

Many thanks for any suggestions!

Thanks for the links!

I don't have an issue what type of tires should I buy, but rather what did other mk8 owners did where it comes to rim size / tire. Especially if they have original 17 inch alloys.

My personal preference would be a second set of wheels. Easier to swap over then.
I can't quite get on board with the idea of taking off brand new tyres to fit all season ones so that option would be out for me.
