Keyless entry. And we connect remote locking

Couple of questions .

I’ve ordered a Golf R last weekend and just wondering if you can lock and unlock the car with the we connect app?

Also does keyless entry lock and unlock the car when approaching/walking away automatically?

You can select the keyless to open the car on approach, it’s in the settings in the car. You need to purchase the digital key to open via your phone though

With opening with the phone is that the digital key or can it just be done in the vw app remotely ?

I know with bmw there’s 2 options.
Digital key - hold phone to door handle
App - you can check the status of the car, flash headlights , lock and unlock etc for anywhere

I can see the status of whether the car is locked, but without paying for the digital key, I can’t unlock it

As standard on the Golf with We Connect you check the tatus of the car, flash lights, sound horn etc, but you cannot lock or unlock the car. If you have the Digital Key option then you can lock and unlock the car by holding your phone close to the door handle

So to be able to remotely lock and unlock from the app you need the digital key option?

Just I’d seen a screenshot somewhere of the we connect app and it had lock/unlock buttons
