Hello there - quick query regarding my 2006 Audi A3.

About a week ago my Emissions Control System Light came on. My handbook tells me to book it into a garage immediately, however I know this could cost an arm and a leg...

There has been no change in performance. Still drives well. The only two things I can think of; the car was on icy/slippery roads over Christmas, with occasional skidding. I also filled up close to the brim when I got fuel... nothing stupid, just making sure I had a full tank. Perhaps it was one of these two things?

Any suggestions on how to safely move forward at a low cost? I appreciate the help in advance.

Kind regards,

P Benson

It needs a code read to see what is wrong, find an independent VAG specialist in your area, a full scan with what is called VCDS should cost less than £40. You will have to get it dealt with before the MOT as the engine light being on is a failure and certain faults can damage the catalyst if ignored for too long.
