Hi all,
Would appreciate your advice and wisdom! So Christmas day I noticed when I tried to unlock car the button when pressed it did not open, The switch did feel a little down compared to lock key so I was thinking maybe the switch on the remote is going. Thankfully I have a spare key so it was fine.
This morning, I thought lets ebay and since there is a key cutter down the road, maybe the switch can be easily replaced if I order. I decide before ordering lets try opening the remote following a guide on youtube. I take out the key try to pry the outer lid and think why not use the key as oppose to get a screwdriver to pry the lid. not thinking its plastic, it snaps.
So now I have a broken key as well as possibly the switch that may need replacing. Ironically I can seem to hold the key itself togeather placed down so I could use minimal glue to hold it togeather but its probably going to make it worse.
I have thankfully the second key, I was thinking order a blank of ebay and ask a key cutter to cut for me using the master key. The issue I have will be the new key and possibly remote aswell plus programming if I get a new remote. I wanted to ask, firstly is there a cheap way to program the key? I have a working key and a friend up north has a VAGCOM. Is it better to get a key cut using a blank and then fix the remote ie see if its the switch or at best new battery?
How much are key programming services now a days for Passats B6 (2009). Thanks in advance
