A6 ACC Fault following remap

Hi all sorry this is a little long winded....
I have a 2012 A6 BiTDi it is very well speced and has ACC amongst other toys, the car had an Audi service 3 months or so back and the flashed the ECU with an emissions fix flash. OMG the car was terrible when I got it back, felt like it would randomly misfire and driving around town at 30 mph would sometimes get terrible diesel knock for 20/30 seconds then back to a decent drive. So I did some research as Audi said nothing they could do and decided to go for a remap. Did a bit of research and chose a company who are well known in the Audi high end tuning circuit, the car was booked in and remapped to 387BHP and had a gearbox tune to suit. however on the drive back from them it soon became apparent the ACC was no longer working, I had ACC and Audi Brake Guard unavailable when I tried to engage cruise, I call them up and they said return it, but I was heading to Kent to collect my Daughter for a weekend away, so I said I will scan the car and let them know the issue.
When I scanned the car it had in module 13 Auto distance control "Internal Error" and the code would not clear. Spoke to the tuners who said nothing to do with the remap you ACC has failed.
I rang Audi and was quoted £1720 per side to replace. So I brought two used and fitted them, booked it into Audi to get the system back up and running. Audi had only had the car an hour and called to say we cannot activate the ACC on your car as we need to flash the ECU and this will remove the remap..... ? Really is this the case as it sounds a bit strange.. Anyway she also suggested it was the remap that had caused the ACC to fail as it would have been looking for certain parameters from the engine and gearbox ECU’s.
So I am left with a car that has no cruise control and I have potentially had to spend £600 replacing items that didn’t fail but broke.
So my question is can a car with ACC be remapped and the ACC still work? And if so how can I get my ACC back on if Audi can’t do It.?

As VCDS says, to start with you will need a read using the latest HEX NET interface as a starter and it my need to go on the dealer system ODIS under Guided Fault Finding to make any progress. Recently I have been seeing all sorts of strange things happening on CAN BUS cars when an ECU is worked on or changed such as three cases of a new central electrics unit being fitted and coded into the car which then recoded the ABS unit for left hand drive, in one case this was impossible to rectify and the TPS the garage had used had to hand it over to their local dealer who fixed it but would not tell anyone, even the supplying TPS, what the fix was.

Yeah getting the later interface is on my to do list. It was in with audi yesterday though they cannot do it without reflashing the ecu and removing the map.

The can selectively re flash individual ECU address with ODIS, I was doing it on Friday.

My local dealer paid for reapplication of my Revo remap, after they applied the ECU update without asking.

Initially they questioned if I could really tell the difference from the map update and asked if my car was previously mapped, but only so far as to pay the map being reapplied.

The TCU update, happens to be so much better with the reapplied remap, previously i’d been considering a TCU map but no longer.

Apparently Revo’s remaps are always repackaged on the latest stock ECU... which might also contribute to the gearbox feeling remarkably (after every drive) better.

Has the company that did the remap got a copy of the remap file? If so, you could take the car to Audi, let them re-flash all relevant ECU's to get the ACC working again, then go back to the remap company with definitive proof that their remap caused the ACC to fail.
Then they need to fix their remap, and re-flash it, or refund you, and take it elsewhere for a remap that works.

Looks like this is the route, Audi have the car again tomorrow and are instructed to flash if needed. Then it goes back for a remap. I personally dont think the map was at fault but it all seems a bit strange Audi cant fix stuff without flashing an ECU.

So Audi have had the car just over 24hrs and have called to say cannot fix the ACC as my master should be 4G0907561A and i have fitted a B revision they have suggested i find a used A revision or pay the £1720 for a new one and they will look again, but he says as i have added traffic sign recognition he still doesn’t feel they can say 100% they can get the system working.
He says the engine Ecu and multimedia show they are not what the car left the factory with. Ive only had it 15 months so no idea if these are originalor not.
They are also grumbling about the seatbelt pretensioner fault. (I pointed this out many times inside the warranty period) and the fact the tailgate has decided it has no basic settings.

Did you also have to have full calibration?

I replaced only the failed unit, it the revision was identical down to the month of production. Only got ACC working again after calibration. Although had been told if replaced as a pair (from a donar car) calibrations not required.

Appreciate this thread is a bit old now but would be great to know where you got your car mapped? I have a 2012 S8 that got mapped and when driving away from the Dyno I got an acc fault and Audi braking guard unavailable
I get the same fault codes when doing a scan with VCDS

Hi MRC off the M40
Unfortunately scrapped my ACC controller so was forced to buy another, mine were the Revision A for the 2011-2014 A6, i tried to be clever and fitted the cheaper B revision off the facelift car, but its not straight forward, Audi had to remove component protection, then they said cant calibrate as not correct parts for the car, i ended up reflashing them Via Vag Can Pro, then the system started to work again. But MRC also remapped the box, and i couldn’t get it to stay in 8th gear on the motorway so i PX it for a new S6

That's exactly where I got mine done and have the same issue. Did the remap fry the ACC controller? Or was it during you trying to fault find that you think the controller was damaged?

My ACC worked fine on the way there, got back in the car and had the warning on the dash, but as it was lunch time and i had to get to kent b4 3 to collect my daughter i thought it will just pick up as im driving or after cleariing some faults, when i got to my daughters i scanned it with my MODIS that i had with me and that was the fault, called them and they said bring it back but we were going away and i was already 3 hours away.

Update on the ACC/Braking Guard fault. I had the car back at MRC today for a switchable mapping and high pressure fuel pumps to be swapped out. They were able to easily to reflash the cruise control module and it's been absolutely fine since. Would highly recommend them
