Hi,

I have a 2016 A4 with the tech pack, I bought it at 3 years old, last year. It came with the 2018-2019 maps installed.

I've asked the local Audi dealership how much it would cost to upgrade to the latest maps and was quoted an absolutely astonishing £650. When I told them I thought this was ridiculous, it was explained to me that it would require not one but two SD cards and take an entire hour. Such hard work.

Has anyone been quoted prices like this for a map upgrade, if not, how much should it cost? They initially suggested it would be around £50 to low hundreds, which is quite a long way from £650.

If Android auto/ apple is an option just get that enabled instead. Look around the Web as I'm sure there are other companies that will be and to do it for less.

I've never liked built in satnav for the very reason you're seeing. Dealers have you over a barrel with updates.

Interestingly the VW maps are free to update. Not sure why others aren't the same.

I am sure you can get a Pre-Loaded SD Card from Ebay for less than £50

I can download updates from MyAudi online but mine is less than 2 years old. I did mine yesterday - only one SD Card needed to take the car to 2021 Maps.

Yeah, they're trying to stiff you. I've been quoted £310.00 for the same job on an A6. So.....yeah, try another garage.

Do it yourself off ebay! I had Audi do my 2012 A6 and when I picked it up and arrived home I checked the version..still the same. Went back.." No, the version number wont change" they said. mmmmm? I think your wrong. Long story but took back for MoT and mentioned details on the map weren`t up to date.

I actually left a `How to` instruction in the car for them! Eventually updated but when I scanned car with VCDS Navigation has a permanent fault code! They were useless! They couldnt look after a Pram never mind a car. Over £250 for the pleasure.
