Oil change using extractor - incline or flat?

Hi everyone,

I am looking to do an interim service myself using the oil extraction method on my 2013 Audi A6 2.0TDI (C7)

Does anyone have experience or tips of having the car on an incline or is it best left flat to extract the optimal amount?

My house has a sloped driveway so I can angle whichever way works best. Unfortunately there aren't any flat points, so jacking or ramping the car isn't an option. If the consensus is that flat works best then I'll find a place to do it on the verge/road outside.

Flatter would be better as you get more of the dirty stuff out. I do mine on the drive which has slight slope so probably missing a bit. There is a knack to wiggling your extraction tube to find the best/lowest point etc. Think I manage to get close to 5 litres out... which bearing in mind the oil is getting changed every 9k miles is kind off ok.

I have always used mine flat, guess with a slope you have no real idea how much is left in. As it never all comes out on the flat. Though it should mostly. I prefer to drain it via the sump plug

Capacity for the 2.0 tdi is listed as 4.5 litres. I use castrol edge 5w30 which comes in 4 litre containers ... so need 2 containers with plenty to spare.

If you get the oil from Opie Oils they will sell you a 5l service pace. This contains a 4l and a 1l pack so I keep the half full 1l pack in the boot "just in case"
