Or if your car can do it, have CarPlay activated, then you can use Waze and you're free from Audi's clutches! :-)

I believe you need to have MMI MIB2 hardware to start with, which I think started with the face lift model. So if that's the case, then you should be good to go. You can certainly ask if it's possible. I contacted an independent chap who did the firmware update and also enabled CarPlay for £140, job done. Curiously Audi didn't want to know and said it couldn't be done when I asked!

I used VagCarCoding, he has an instagram page and his WWW site is VAG Car Coding - Coding, Diagnostic & Retrofit Services for VAG Vehicles (http://www.vagcarcoding.com), he certainly knows his stuff!! :-)

You have the Tech Pack so adding CarPlay is fairly straightforward. Audi never offered Carplay with RMC equipped cars - that the OP has - so adding it is a lot more involved (think it involves hardware as well as changes to the software)

You are correct you do not have the Tech Pack, you have the RMC system. Gav28uk does have the Tech Pack and his comment regarding a softare update only applies to cars with Tech Pack

Thanks for the clarification John, that makes sense. I know you need the MIB2 MMI setup, so can you not get that if you don't have the tech pack?

Hi not 100% on this but, Tech pack is completely different hardware HDD rather than SD card so would expect any firmware or software versions are not compatible between the systems.

MIB2 was introduced to the C7 as part of the facelift and the move (for the HDD version of the MMI) from 3g to 4g/LTE. The RMC system, continued largely unchanged at the facelift and thus does not use MIB2. There are some who offer Carplay for RMC, but it requires hardware and seems to cost £500+ just for the hardware

YTou mentioned previously that you had the SD card based navigation so therefore it is the RMC system. Regarding map version go into the car menu and then I think (not had myt c7 for nearly 2 years so doing this from memory) go to SETuP MMI and then there is an Option for VERSION INFORMATION. You want to look at the Navigtion Database Version.

Be careful buying an SD Card with new map data online as it is not simply a case of unplug one and plug the new card in. The card needs to be activated for the vehicle and officially only Audi can do this as it requires a link to the factory systems. People have found a way round this but you will need someone who knows what they are doing
