VCDS won't connect

Hi All.<br><br>I have just brought a Q5 R8 3.0L on a 13 plate, my first diesel.<br><br>Its not got lots of toys but low millage for the year<br><br>I have just plugged in my VCDS lead to have a play and it won't play.<br><br>Comes up with.   Scan auto detect.<br>                         Function not  supported by the gateway.<br><br>Any help greatfully received.<br><br>Dave
