So having talked to local Audi Dealer about my audi app, Irealised the S6 does not connect to the app in the same way and does not have features like remote locking. A nice to have but not essential.
So I decided to buy a data sim for the car and experience google earth sat nav, which I have to say is pretty cool. This is where I have to admit a schoolboy error... I looken in the handbook and it said use a mini sim, i had bought a Three data sim which lasts 12 months if you dont use your allowance. It was a trio sim where it has normal / micro / nano so you just puch out the size you need. My old brain read mini & micro as the same so I pushed out and went to install in the slot in the dash... Mistake 1 - should have started with largest and then used smaller if did not fit... Mistake 2 - should have spotted it was too small as I pushed in slot... too late as I pushed in sim I realised but was now in slot. :aargh4:

So spent an hour or two trying allsorts to retrieve the sim, but just pushed further in... so time to ring for help. I rang Audi Dealer... hmmm that is a problem sir, may have to start taking dash apart (Really!!) so rang Auto electrician I have used for car security... he said same. This is all sounding expensive:crying:

But after another hour or trying in vain, rang Auto electrician and booked in for sim retrieval.

Day before car is due in I'm sat thinking this is Great Britain, famous for our inginuity surely theres a way of retriving without taking things apart....

So looked at the sim size / the gap it was sat in and what clearance it left... Lightbulb moment, i bent a paperclip into a u shape just wider than the nano sim then eased into the slot either side of sim, squezzed lightly and pulled, failed, but try again and bingo out pops the sim and not a single piece of dashboard removed
put sim back into full size and silde back into slot, clicks into place and were done! Happy days

The only thing that irritates me is the MMI asking me if I want to open a data connection everytime I start the car, and then asking me if I want to open a hotspot. But only a small thing, can live with it.

Moral of the story is as my old woodwork teacher tolds us... measure twice, cut once!!...

Good save with the paper clip. Re hotspot and data connection, you need to adjust settings in mmi to never ask or yes. I'm currently at work so can't check my set up

Yes agree with stig. Mine will sometimes do that randomly so expect it every now and then, the 3 sim for 24 months is very good value and works in Europe which my gifgaf sim did not.
