Evening all, im thinking of buying a 2017 Polo Gti can anyone tell me if:
1. They are chain driven, what is the replacement mileage/year
2. Do they suffer with the cam follower issue as an audi 2.0 tfsi used to have

Thanks

The EA888 engine is chain driven and there is no change interval. At the moment the latest post November 2015 production engines seem to have reliable tensions but chain wear will always be an issue with modern oils. Oil change interval is critical so look for 9300 changes intervals... if has done 100k and had five oil changes I would negotiate the cost of a full chain rebuild out of the asking price and that is expensive. The cam follower is roller, not flat face and again it was modern oils that damaged the old ones, with ZDDP in the oil flat tappets don’t fail.
