Anyone know what the hazard warning restricted message is on the dash? It randomly pops ups and goes away after a second or two.

Could it be something to do with Car2X intelligent vehicle networking?

Suspect it is to do with the City Emergency Baking system. If the sensors get confused or obscured then it cannot automatically brake if it deters an obstical. On my A6 there is a software bug in the system which randomly causes the system to stop working. Hope the Golf is not using the same software!

Thanks for the clarification. A friend of mine who has an A class also gets similar warning messages so i guess its pretty wide spread across manufactures.

The Golf 8 has been launched with a number of its software packages unfinished and requiring future updates.

Is this correct?
I have noticed quite a few bugs in the car that should have never passed qx testing never mind code review. One of them being, when you change temp and the rest of the screen greys out. It leaves out a section on the screen that does not grey out, looks funky. Another bug ive had is the home button just randomly vanished, had to leave the car, lock it and return to it to get it to come back. Was reading up on the id3 software not being 100 percent complete too, then i noticed it uses the same infotainment screen as the golf...

The software problems are well documented and that the car is being shipped with major software issues admitted as the product has to go out the door or VAG will be in deep financial ****, you should have been told by the supplying dealer about the software development program.

Same thing has started happening to me, so glad I'm not alone - hurray for forums, thanks.
It is definitely the Car2X function switching itself off (although I don't know why) as if you go to Privacy Settings after the message appears, it is turned off and won't let you turn it back on... but then comes on the next time you drive the car (until it turns itself off again) which makes me think it is a server issue and will get fixed in due course as it was working fine until a couple of days ago and I've not installed any software updates in that time.

I think the "Golf 8 software issues" thread needs creating... me thinks it is going to be popular...

This message comes up on my Golf 8. It also came up on the 2 demonstrators I drove. Dealer said it has been referred to VW, who are unsure why it comes up! Only appears once, some 5-10 minutes after switching on engine, then disappears again.

On the Audi A6 it is a known software bug, ususally only happens when you switch the engine off and then turn it back on again a few minutes later. Maybe the same issue on the Golf, although unlike the reports on the Gpolf where it clears itself the A6 oly clears itself after you have stopped and left the car for at least 10 minutes (allows all the systems to shut down)

VW admitted when the car was launched that many of its software systems were incomplete or even faulty.

I think it’s to do with Car2X intelligent vehicle networking, which Euro NCAP describes as VW’s Local Hazard Warning.

Haven’t seen it on ours yet.

Mine hasn't done it for a few weeks now, hopefully it stays that way as the 'bong' notification sound always made me jump!

I've not had the message pop up in quite a long time now which is good :)
I was driving home the other day and had a record 4 things fail at once including Lane assist, road sign recognition, front assist. I then stopped at the lights and was told there was an issue with start/stop! All fixed after restarting the car but yes, extremely buggy software.

Does have anyone have any further information on the error "Hazard Warning is Currently Restricted"? I get the error after 5 mins of driving my new Mk8 Golf - every time.
I have reported it to the local dealer and asked them to check with VW if it is a known software fault or a server / communications issue and all they say is "please bring it in so we can do a diagnosis". All I want to know is if VW are working on this issue and if we can expect it to be resolved soon.

I have a problem with Emergency Assist / Travel Assist not available. When I brought it to the dealer they said VW are working on an update / api for the aerial control module.. He showed me a service bulletin which mentioned problems with Emergency Assist etc. There was no indication when the update will be available, and he'll be in touch. (See post #9 (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=9) in this thread Golf Mk8 - eSIM Losing Connection to VW Servers (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/196439-Golf-Mk8-eSIM-Losing-Connection-to-VW-Servers) )
As far as I know, the Hazard Warning concerns the Car2X system where the vehicle communicates with other cars fitted with the system.
Probably best to bring it to the dealer, but in the meantime if the ‘bings’ are annoying you can turn off Car2X in the Assist menu and see if that helps until a proper fix is available.

My car was delivered yesterday - first of all it had a parking sensors error message so went back to the dealer. Then they returned it last night and 5 mins after I set off 'Hazard warning restrcited' came up. Pretty frustrated - car has 7 miles on the clock.

Very frustrating and not good when you are all excited about getting a new car. Did the Hazard Warnings Restricted message clar after a bit? It can be temporarly caused by things like condensation in front of the camera behind the rear view mirror

I know. No it seems to come on every journey roughly 3 mins after I start driving (have been out 4 times for short 1-2 mile drives). Love the car but very irritating.

My GTD had an update yesterday while I was driving down the M4 - loads of warnings came up! Just what you need at 7 in the morning driving on the motorway to work! However, once I got to work I restarted the car after opening the door, and slowly everything started up again. And in the 16 mile journey home the hazard never came up once!! So hopefully sorted. Shame my phone still wont auto connect...but were getting there.

That is a bit daft the car updating whilst driving, it should wait until you have switched off. I find the prospect of autonomous self driving cars quite scary.

Well after the update the Hazard warning is definitely fixed now.
And the tip about opening the car door after starting the engine to auto connect my phone works but hopefully will be sorted soon...
Does anyone have any tips regarding the Eco stop start and the heating Sync settings? Like how to get them to hold the setting made? I cant believe they buried the SS button deep in the Menus!!!
And has anyone had any luck setting up the Tidal App? Mine just doesn't work.
Oh, and then there is the Crack/Popping sound coming from the center dash mounted speaker (i think)...
Thanks is advance for any suggestions.

"hazard warning" in case you don't know is car2x... Nothing serious with it failing, although usually it's because you are running in anonymous mode... Which turns it off.

Yep I understand that. But it is running in full freedom to the world mode...

Hi Jukemark
I had the cracking popping sound from the centre along with screen messages about SOS system errors. The car went in for a software update and they found the SOS unit near the mirror was faulty and needed a replacement. It took 3 weeks for the part to come from Germany but the dealer lent me the top of range Polo while I waited. Car has been ok since apart from the Hazard warning problem which I will raise with the dealer although I had assumed it was because I haven't opened a mobile network account with VW.
