Took the plunge a few weeks ago and purchased my Avant.
had to sell my 6 month old Porsche Macan due to loss of business and being put on a 4 day week in my new job but still wanted a car with a bit of poke
ive had the c7 RS6 Avant a few years ago so obviously not expecting the tune to give me anywhere near the same performance however just wanted forum member’s opinion on a remap and what I can expect in terms of real world performance?
ive been informed I should see around 370-380ps and 750-780nm, this is with a custom tune and gearbox remap. That torque figure, I imagine will make a massive difference, the ps increase isn’t half bad ether!
finally, for those of you that have had a remap how much have your insurance premiums gone up by on average?
cheers in advance

Links? There is the MRC web site if that helps? Rolling road to map the car and gear box with a custom map, not much more to say
ill let you know what increase I get once I’ve attended the appointment and also how the car feels when I drive it

Hi. I’d be interested in the results. I had a chat with Chris at CM tuning at Leeds who is an MRC approved tuner and he said they had seen 390ps on standard components. I think I would go intercooler also to keep temps down. Also didn’t know there was a gearbox remap available. Thought it was just the S Tronic that could be mapped.

Living inside the M25 with outrageous insurance premiums, my existing insurer will kick me out with anything more than a 10% power hike. So I will keep my car standard - especially as it has an Audi Approved Used warranty for the next year.
I ride a smallish motorcycle which will do 0-90 mph in 6 seconds and find that the standard car has more than enough poke for my needs. From what I have read - up to 90 mph it as quick as a V10 S6. so with more power it should be as quick as an RS6. I will be interested to read how you find the throttle response after the remap.

Hi Bazza I’m not technical so can’t comment on your gearbox observation.
it’s on the quote I received from MRC so maybe worth you speaking to the guys in Banbury yourself directly to find out more about it?
ill ask for my dyno charts when it’s all done and will asked about the gearbox tune before I pay for it if it’s not possible. If it is not a mistake with my quote I will let you know what they do and what it does when I speak to them

Hi John,
well I’ve had the c7 RS6 so should be able to provide a real world comparison once it’s been done
im not expecting that type of performance and I’m hoping the gearbox remap will make the car more responsive as I find the gearing a little lazy and there seems to be a slight delay when I put my foot down

Well had my session today with MRC and very pleased with the results.
i was also surprised that my stock engine made 340ps and 662 torque on the first dyno run before tune
it made 390ps and 762 torque in the final run
i asked about the gearbox tune and they did perform it

Great results. Does the gearbox map feel better?

There is a little more urgency when pressing the accelerator but I what they said is that if they did an engine map only they would have to programme the ecu to lie to the gearbox as it would be programmed for the original tune. Without a gear box tune the engine and gear box would be out of sync and this could have a negative impact on the gearbox over time

So what difference have you noticed performance wise?

It’s much quicker!
Puts you back in your seat when accelerating and the over taking prowess is now even more remarkable for a diesel

I have the Revo remap. No rolling road to verify before and after. It had a noticeable difference, but I wouldn’t say back of seat difference. Maybe I should have gone MRC. Chose Revo because I had their stage 1, taking 170 to 290 on a Q5 tsi, and the difference for that vehicle was incredible - though still not equal to the bitdi before the Revo remap, but close for everyday driving.
How would you describe yours compared to the RS6, aside from the diesel delay?

No comparison really. The RS6 WAS “push you to the back of your seat” fast from launch
The BiTDI does feel extremely quick for a diesel but not super car quick like the RS
What impresses me is the acceleration when on the move, it’s just effortless and I expect I’m going much quicker than I realise. A great car for overtaking and just better in every way with the MRC remap
If I was inclined it would be interesting to see how easily some performance cars would pull away from me now.
Not sure if the Aston Martin Vantage that was flashing me an inch from my bumper on the motorway was toying with me but when I let him past he put his foot down but I managed to keep up with him quite easily. Probably didn’t really push it but I was still impressed he wasn’t a speck in the distance

It’s hard to be exact about the difference, I don’t measure very scientifically. However a typical 12 mile jaunt with the family post the Revo remap was achieving over 40mpg, typically 42mpg. Since the recall it’s typically below, often 38mpg. A typical journey will include a mix of B roads and single A roads. I am not light footed, but neither do I throw the family about, and why I still enjoy the bitdi’s discretion.
I’ve since read they also remap the gearbox. Very hard to comment on the difference, because yes it’s better but I am comparing to before with the remap. Now when I have the remap, with the recall mapped gear box I have no idea how it’ll behave.

I’ve also found this. The additional warranty granted to recalled V6 3.0l in Canada. The original owners also got a decent payout, like in the US. I’ve yet to see any details of that for UK 3.0 owners.

The emissions recall ruined my car, dropping mpg down to low 30's. When it was remapped a week after the audi interference, the power was 270bhp compared to the posted 320bhp. I fully understand how cars will vary from each other BUT it was a noticeably different drive from when I picked it up from Audi. The gearbox mapping was different, it was just not right.
While the gearbox mapping has not been changed, the car has been remapped to stage 1 and is EVERYTHING the car should be. I sit just shy of 400bhp, it returns just under 40 mpg most of the time. The car will do over 40 mpg now whereas after Audi touched it, 33 mpg was a challenge.
Whatever the emissions update is, it should be avoided.

Wow some massive drops. My cars a 63 plate, MY14 so it’s just before the adblue versions and with the posted 313ps. Everything I’ve read talks about the adblue versions, which makes me even wonder if they should’ve carried out the recall on my car.
Never had it dyno’d, so I don’t know how it’s changed.
I’d be tempted to try a different map, to attain closer to 400hp, vs Revos claimed ~360hp... however as I previously paid for the Revo, I understand if the dealer flashes the ECU they will put the map back on.
