Hi, New to the forum. I own a MK6 Golf 2.0 TDI with a CBAB engine. Car is a 09 plate. Browsing various forums I came across this oil pump failure due to the 77 mm hex drive. Was also noted that this affected early Common Rail engines.

Now I'm worried that my car may also be affected and could fail. However I came across a thread on this forum from 2013, where one of the comments stated that this problem does not affect the MK6 Golf as the oil pump is driven by chain. I just want to confirm if I've got this right? And the hex drive problem does not affect me.

Thanks

Ask VW , if they don't know drop the sump as it could be either 77mm or 100mm oil pump drive .

Just wondering if you got round to finding out ? I’ve also just bought myself a 2009 golf, engine code is CBAB built in August 2009, i do a lot of motorway miles so just wondering if you found out whether or not it had the hex key and what size if it did.
