Hi there bmm engine 2.0 tdi have changed the cam belt for a dayco kit all fitted correctly
On starting up it’s whining
I have adjusted the tensioner to the middle mark like it says. I’m used to using the old twist and turn method
The belt was really hard to get on even without the tensioner adjusted but the old wasn’t that easy either and that was with 90000 miles
Is it the fact of retentioning or have i done something majorly wrong

This is how I adjusted the tensioner before and I gather how I should have done
Will it actually make a difference

To put a spin on there rechecked the tensioner again and still the same checked timing all good which it was took it for a run and it’s quietened down loads
Maybe the coating on the dayco belt

Just to reply I only worried as the noise was horrendous I have done loads of cam belts in the past and the job went a breeze
I have done about 200 miles since and the noise has gone
Still haven’t topped up any coolant yet as there’s no bleed screw. There not that good self bleeding are they? The pipe from the thermostat has opened a few times too
Normally used to have to top up once everything goes round etc
