Removed inlet manifold - should I spray carb cleaner down inlet valves?

I'm replacing the egr valve on my wife's 06 BKD 2.0 tdi. I've removed and cleaned the manifold and the asv. Wondering whether I should spray any carb cleaner down the ports for the inlet valves while I have the manifold off, or just leave alone? I've seen this done on YouTube but I'm not convinced. Cheers.

No way! If you spray anything volatile in there it can pool and when you start it, the engine will run away and can then pull oil from the sump and.... we’ll the rest is history, smokey history. To get the system clean we use System cleaner diesel (https://eshop.wurth.co.uk/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/3108-B1-Site/en_GB/-/GBP/ViewModelDetail-ShowRecommendedModel?CatalogCategoryID=F9oKD92e.Mk AAAFVS0MFH3ag&CampaignName=CS016&RecoId=search%40searchA) which is water based.

Cheers Crasher. Is it worth spraying through the ports with the cleaner you suggest or just leave alone?

That spray is used running through the intake, some people just use water. A few months ago we had a chap on the phone who had seen someone on YouTube spray water down the inlet so he squirted water into his from a bottle and the engine locked up... he wondered if he may have hurt it!

Oh my....Anyway car all back together, no more egr faults and drives lovely :)

Have to say, this is one filthy job. Managed to make 1 disposable glove and my wife's marigolds last for the whole thing. She doesn't want them back...
