Hi everyone.Having now driven the A6 for just over 6 months I can truly say it’s the best Audi I have owned. There is however a small issue that bugs me and I just wanted to ask the other BITDI owners out there if they have noticed the same.
Most times when I set off after the car has been parked over night or for a long duration as soon an I release the break the car just lurches forward like it’s trying to break ones neck.I allways set off in Comfort and generally don’t drive the car hard.
This will only happen the first time the car starts to move and the rest of the time is absolutely fine and once stopped at a traffic light for example when the brake is released the car sets of nicely which makes me wonder if the car jumping forward when setting off from cold is Normal or not.Its a 16 plate and has only covered 22000 miles.
Has anyone else experienced this??
I bought the car from a private seller and I do remember him mentioning that the car went into Audi for gearbox software.
Again this only happens the first time that i set off and the rest of the time is absolutely fine with smooth and unnoticeable gear changes.
Any thoughts on this or suggestions on what I could try to improve on this situation??

There could be a software update available, check with Audi next summer when everything opens up again.....

Mine seems strange, only way i can describe it is it seems to take up slack in the drive train. Seems to have to rev a lot more in reverse too on mine.

Thanks for your replies guys.I will definitely give Audi a call once the situation improves although I’m not holding my breath on to much help from them.Previous owner made me aware he had the car with Audi for a software update on the gearbox.
Sometimes if let off the brake reeeeeally easy I can get it to drive off smoothly.
It’s shame because other than that it’s a brilliant car.I also have to rev it a bit when reversing especially if I have to steer at the same time so I think on that one it’s probably common behaviour.
It would still be interesting to find out if anyone else has this behaviour in their BITDI.

Mine is fine and always takes off from cold without any drama. It does need a fair bit of revs when in reverse especially if your going up a small kerb or incline.
I would think its a software issue unless your gearbox has some other fault codes logged in it. Did the previous owner not tell why it needed a software update? was he having issues or was it a routine service?
If Audi cant fix it with a software update or down date then look at some remapping company's that update gearbox software for certain styles of driving. Quantum remaps is one such company

I believe he said he took the car to Audi to reset the learning mode on it.At the time I didn’t quite understand what that meant and nor did I notice this behaviour on the gearbox. Thanks for the gearbox remap suggestion. As Crasher suggests I will get Audi to have a look first just in case there is a software update and if not I will also look at what you suggested.
However the rest of the time the car is absolutely spot on,much better drive than my previous C6.

Does the 3.0 BiTdi have a normal Tip box or S-Tronic based thingy?

It has a ZF 8 speed tiptronic gearbox.

Any chance it is a sticky brake since it only does it after being parked up.

That is the ZF8HP55, the VAG 0BK series, version code PPE. Perhaps it is like with all PPE at the moment, late delivery...
